Breed registration

Few Samoyeds were originally registered, but a Samoyed dog was registered in SKK as early as 1893. Until the middle of the 20th century, it was not customary for all puppies in a litter to be registered, but it was up to the owner himself if he wanted to register his dog in SKK. The breed became noticed by a wider public during the 1970s when Samoyeds were also imported, e.g. from the USA, which came to mean a lot for the breeding development of the breed. In today's modern dog society, imports from different countries are more common and the breed maintains a relatively constant registration figure.
